Texting Abbreviations

Text messaging has come a very long way since cell phones were first invented. You used to only be able to use the t9 text messaging. This means it automatically guesses what you are going to send by the letters you enter. There are many different texting abbreviations to make your message must easier to send. These abbreviations vary from 2 letter words to 5 letter words. They are usually acronyms for longer and more complex words and phrases. These texting abbreviations are used by almost everyone these days. More of the younger generations use these than the older generations. The older generations still want to use the full sentences and phrases.

The most common of the texting abbreviations is “lol”. This means laugh out loud. This can be used instead of typing “hahahahah” if you are trying to tell someone they are funny and you are laughing. This has been used in text abbreviations for a very long time. Another one of the abbreviations for texting that is based around laughter is “rofl”. This means you are rolling on the floor laughing. When people use these abbreviations, they are simply telling you they are laughing at you or with you. There are tons of little abbreviations you can use to tell someone you are laughing at their joke.

If you are trying to tell someone you love them, there are also many different little text abbreviations you can use. The most common way to tell someone you love them or simply appreciate them is a heart you can do this by using the symbol “ If you are in the middle of a text messaging conversation but you need to do something real quick, you probably want to tell the person you will be right back. Instead of typing those words out fully, you can simply type “brb”. This is also an acronym for the words be right back. You can also type in “bbl”. This means you will be back later to talk to them. Using these abbreviations is the polite way to temporarily end a conversation. Instead of not replying to a text message at all, you can use one of these acronyms to let them know you are still interested but are busy for the moment. All of the abbreviations out there are meant to help you send a text message with using a minimal amount of keys. If you are in a hurry, you can type a few letters instead of a few words and save you a ton of time.
